Cruz Alta boasts a wine for every occasion. To achieve this, we need versatility in our winery.

In addition to our optical grape selector and enormous barrel room, we use eight different fermentation vessels – allowing us to get the best results possible depending on each grape variety, terroir and wine style.

Diamond Tanks

These unique tanks were designed and patented by our Head Winemaker, Mariano Di Paola. Using only gravity, their diamond shape allows the cap of grape solids to break up and then squeeze back together under its own weight (as the tank is drained and refilled during fermentation). This results in a much higher extraction of polyphenols and a more gentle extraction of tannins.

Barrel Cellar

Our capacity of more than 4,000 barrels (mostly French oak) ensures that the Chairman’s Blend, Grand Reserve and Reserve wines get the delicate aging they need to reach the desired complexity.

Concrete Egg Fermenters

A relatively new trend in the wine industry and no top winery should be without them. Their egg shape creates continuous convention currents in the wine, which doesn’t permit the lees to settle. Due to this increased lees contact the finished wine has a more complex mouthfeel.

Roll Fermenters

Using a special ‘rolling’ movement to mix liquids and solids during fermentation, Cruz Alta uses these 600-liter vessels to conduct tests and experiment with how different parcels of vineyards express themselves. With over 60 Roll Fermenters, Cruz Alta boasts the highest number of any winery worldwide.

Optical Grape Selector

First installed in Argentina back in 2009, this top-end technology selects the desired grapes based on 3 parameters: color, size and shape. These can be adjusted depending on the grape variety or wine style being processed.
